Una grande storia d’amicizia con un finale a sorpresa sulle note di “Calling You”, una delle canzoni più belle del cinema,candidata all’ Oscar

Jasmin è in vacanza con il marito: i due hanno violento litigio, lei scende dalla macchina e suo marito riparte, lasciandola sola in pieno deserto. Accaldata e furibonda, Jasmin si trascina verso il Bagdad Café, ma anche lì le cose non vanno per il meglio: la birra è finita, la macchina da caffé è guasta e regna il caos. Brenda, che gestisce il locale, è grintosa quanto sciatta, oltre che indaffarata: si divide tra il bar, la pompa di benzina, i figli ed il nipotino. Jasmin affitta una stanza, e, una volta lì, si accorge di aver preso per sbaglio la valigia del marito: i problemi quindi non sono ancora finiti. Oltretutto tra lei e Brenda i rapporti si prospettano burrascosi. Ma il destino avrà qualcosa di inaspettato da riservare alle due donne....
